Moving Day

Moving day was upon us a day earlier than expected. Joel, Adrienne, Adam, Berkeley and I drove out to Long Island late on August 21 to be ready to meet the movers early on August 22. Moving is a bitch. Unpacking is a bitch cubed. I had hoped to get this journal started as soon as the computers were unpacked (while still "stealing" broadband), but there are only so many hours in a day.

So, six days into this adventure and finally, I get some pictures up to share. I guess it's good that progress is being made.

Day 1:
I moved the car out onto the cul de sac to make room for the moving trucks to pull in and noticed this view of the house. I like it better than the straight on shot. This is where we live!

As the stuff came in, I was overwhelmed as the movers asked where everything went. There were things I obviously could place quickly, but many things that I just had to make my best guess. I know that there's going to be lots of rearranging done in the next few months. And the boxes!!! Oh my god....I can't believe the boxes. It really is disgusting to think of all the material that was used to package our stuff up for just a few days. Now....I am beginning to have to figure out how to get rid of all the refuse. The boxes are recyclable, but it looks like the paper is destined for a landfill. They'll only take it a small bit at a time so maybe I'll be able to figure out a more environmentally friendly way to get rid of it in the next few days.

Anyway....when your house looks like this....

the only thing to do is get off your butt and get to WORK!!
